Human Resource Management (HRM)

In this globalised era the manager's ability to tap the latent talents of the workforce is definitely a much sought after skill-set. Our much acclaimed and respected HRM programme trains future human resource managers to shape winning organizations. Focusing primarily on employee relations, human management systems and practices, legal framework, interpersonal and leadership skills the HRM course offers a holistic formation including functional area

Business Management (BM)

Shaping future business leaders as responsible and highly skilled managers is the thrust of the BM programme. The rigorous training prepares value-based managers with an integrated approach to decision-making. Drawing in on functional disciplines such as Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, Production & Operations Management and Strategic Management programme trains enterprising managers for a sustainable future.

Global MBA

This one-of-a-kind programme, offered in partnership with the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (USA) and Tongji University (China) constitutes a diverse class of Indian, American and Chinese students. Students will be taught by faculty drawn from each of the three partner schools and spend a semester each in Shanghai, Cleveland and Jamshedpur.

Eligibility : (For HRM/BM/Global MBA) Candidates who have completed Bachelor's degree of minimum three years during or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university from India/abroad are eligible to apply. Those completing their final examination by June 10, 2014 may also apply. Candidates having experience of three or more years will be given preference for Global MBA.

  • For HRM/BM: NRI/PIO/Foreign candidates can apply either through XAT or GMAT score for the test taken GMAT between December 1, 2011 and December 20, 2013 should register online for applying to XLRI.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Candidates may apply for more than one programme. Those who apply for multiple programmes may be called for multiple interviews and/or group discussions. The selection criteria for different programmes may differ depending on the nature of the programme. XAT written test will have multiple components and you need to maximize your performance in each of these components. In its pursuit of academic excellence, XLRI actively encourages the students from diverse backgrounds. While preparing the shortlisted candidates for the interview, in addition to XAT performance, we may factor in academic ability and the relevant work experience. Besides performance in the personal interviews (and/or group discussions) we also consider XAT performance, relevant work experience, academic ability, extra curricular activities etc. while preparing the final list. For candidates who cannot be present physically for the XLRI interviews due to their being out of the country, interviews would be carried out in online mode via Internet.

PGDM (General Management)

The PGDM (GMP) is one of the three flagship courses offered by XLRI. This full-time residential programme, recognized by AICTE is equivalent to PG Diploma in Management (General), aims at re-engineeging the skills of practicing managers and executives with substantial industrial experience.

Eligibility : Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university in India/abroad with at least 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience by March 31, 2014. PGDM (GMP) candidate may choose to apply through XAT 2014 or GMAT score (taken during December 1, 2011 to December 20, 2013).

PGDM (GMP) Interviews will take place during 2 - 8, February 2014

Stage 1: Applying through GMAT/XAT

Prerequisites for GMAT Applicants :

All GMAT applicants must take their GMAT between December 01, 2011 and December 20, 2013 and they also need to pay a fee of Rs 1050.00 through cash/online/demand draft/banker's cheque (US$ 50 for NRI applicants) in favor of " XLRI Programmes" payable at Jamshedpur.

Download the XLRI confirmation page and send the duly filled in form only in the case of Cash and Demand Draft.

Stage 2: Shortlist of Candidates

  • The names of the GMAT candidates will be shortlisted by 10th of January 2014 (tentative).
  • The names of the XAT candidates will be shortlisted by January 25, 2014 (tentative).

Stage 3: Interview Process

  • The interviews for GMAT and XAT candidates will be conducted between February 2-8, 2014 (Tentative) in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur only.
  • Interviews can be conducted over G-talk / Skype for overseas candidates. Candidate needs to get in touch with the admissions office for scheduling the interview online.

Stage 4: Result Announcement

  • The results will be announced via email along with an offer letter for XLRI-PGDM (GMP) by February 28, 2014.

Fees

Fees and other charges for 15-month PGDM (General Management) will be approximately Rs. 15,00,000/- (or equivalent in $ US) for the academic year 2014 - 2015. Food, electricity and other personal expenses would be charged extra depending on the type of accommodation preferred by the student. Fee may change next session based on the recommendation of Fee Fixation Committee.

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

Residential Doctoral Programme

Primarily aimed at training participants as faculty at premier Management Institutes, Researchers or Consultants. This prestigious course carries fellowship of Rs. 25,000 per month in the first two years and Rs. 30,000 per month in the following two years. For further details visit. acad.xlri.ac.in/admission

Eligibility

A Master's degree or its equivalent in any discipline with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) with the Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) obtained after a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary education (10+2) or equivalent,

OR

a professional qualification like CA, ICWA or CS with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates)

OR

BE/B.Tech degree or its equivalent with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) and 2 years of relevant work experience are eligible to apply.

The applicant must hold a Bachelors/Master's degree of any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or possess an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE. Non-fulfillment of these conditions will automatically result in cancellation of the admission.

The calendar for the admission of the FPM candidates is same as that for the students of the PGPs. The admission requires two sequential online processes. Interested candidates are required to (1) apply online to take the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) and (2) apply online to XLRI for the FPM.

Instead of taking the XAT, FPM candidates can also submit GMAT/GRE/GATE/UGC JRF (research) results taken during the year January 2012 and December 2013. Those who have done their PGP from XLRI, any IIM, MDI Gurgaon, FMS Delhi or XIM Bhubaneswar, with a CQPI of at least 6.00/8.00 or equivalent will also be exempted from appearing in the XAT.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a personal interview during February-March, 2014 at XLRI, Jamshedpur for the final selection.

Executive Fellow Programme in Management (Exec.FPM)

Exec.FPM is a non-residential doctoral programme designed to cater to the higher needs or working executives/faculty members and researchers. For further details visit acad.xlri.ac.in/admission

Eligibility and Admission Process

Applicants for the Executive-FPM should

  • have an MBA/Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or equivalent or GMP/PGPX or One Year full-time residential programme in Management. Candidates from Premier B-Schools will be given preference.
  • be currently employed in a full-time job.
  • have at least 5 years of full-time executive/managerial/teaching/research experience as on March 31, 2014.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a personal interview at XLRI, Jamshedpur for final selection.

Course Structure

Exec. FPM students will complete 12 courses in 5 campus visits of 20 days duration each spread over a period of 2 years. Besides the campus visits of 20 days' duration each, at least 3-5 additional campus visits will normally be needed. These visits are meant for comprehensive examination, defense of the thesis proposal and final thesis defense. On successful completion of all the requirements of the Programme, a student will be awarded the title 'Fellow in Management of XLRI'.

Not Eligible

Degree / Diploma / Certificate holders through part-time, weekend, evening, correspondence, private appearance, or satellite-based programmes.

Course Fee

The total fees for the entire programme is Rs. 6,00,000/- payable in three installments and Rs. 40,000/- as refundable caution deposit. This does not include board and lodge during campus visits. The fee may change depending on the recommendation of Fee Fixation Committee.

  • To get admission to XLRI, candidates have to appear for XAT 2014
  • To register for XAT, candidates have to fill the XAT Form that is available online at www.xatonline.net.in. Once the candidate logs on to this site, a full set of instructions will appear. The candidate can obtain his/her ID and password by following these instructions. This ID and password are to be indicate for all the future correspondence with the XAT office, Jamsghedpur.

Application to XLRI

The application form to apply for XLRI is available only online at www.xlri.edu from September 2, 2013. The candidate has to first register for XAT and use XAT ID and password to apply to XLRI. Once the candidate logs on this site, a full set of instructions will appear guiding the candidates to register for admission to XLRI.
