The Article, Published by P. B. Srikanth in HRM Review: An IUP Publication, 11(7), 2011, 17-24, 2012

A competency model is essentially a detailed behaviorally specific description of the skills and traits that employees need, to be effective in their job. Neither of them provides effective ways to differentiate the requirements of various jobs nor ways to match individual competency profiles to a wide range of assignments. This article attempts to identify an alternative multiple-job approach for building a competency model and ways to implement it.
