Information Technology is unarguably the defining force of this millennium, and XLRI is poised to break new ground as the most e-enabled Business school in India. The initial focus of being systems friendly has now resulted in a virtual flood of e-initiatives. Beginning with the up gradation of infrastructure and supplemented by the introduction of new courses, workshops, seminars and live projects, the creation of a whole new batch of tech-savvy managers with the skills to integrate technology solutions to the workplace environment has begun.
Computers are available to facilitate research activities, course work an administration. The computing resources at XLRI include latest servers and workstations, a state-of-the-art campus network and 2 MBPS Internet Connection. There are high-end servers to host XLRI Web page, mail Server, news server, Oracle and other software and database (PROWESS OF CIME, VANS, etc).
XLRI has GIGABIT FIBER Backbone throughout Institute's local area network, where every student is equipped with a computer in his/her room and has access to the internet and e-mail. Through the fiber optic backbone Internet, e-mail and electronic notice-cum-discussion board facilities made available to the faculty, students and administration and the participants of the management development programmes. The Student computer center operates round the clock seven days in a week.
About 170 units of latest Pentium workstations as Windows NT/Windows 95/98 client serve the desk needs of faculty, students, library, and system classroom, and various administrative offices. These are connected with the students hostel through a common fiber optic backbone network, high-speed Ethernet switches and UTP connections for the desktop provided to share the internal server and connectivity to Internet.
PROWESS published by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CIME) is available on LAN for faculty and students to get corporate information of over 5000 companies in India.
