Father Jesurajan received his training in mass communication and spent seventeen years in the Philippines, in India and in the USA teaching, training and researching varied areas of mass communication. Since 1984, besides teaching Managerial Communication and Corporate Image Building to regular students, he conducts in-company and training programmes on these and other related areas. He has been conducting workshops to CEOs and other senior level managers, in India and abroad. His experiences in training managers and his knowledge of the industry make him unique in this field of managerial communication. He is editor of the Institute’s journal, Management and Labour Studies.

Professor Gangopadhyay was the Professor & Head, Department of PMIR,TISS, Mumbai; Professor & Dean, Indian Institute of Management, Indore; Director, Central Labour Institute, Ministry of Labour, DGFASLI, Mumbai; Professor in Behavioural Sciences, SVP National Police Academy, Hyderabad and Scientist, Defence Research & Development(DRDO), Ministry of Defence, New Delhi.Worked as the national expert with International Labour Organization(ILO) and Asian Productivity Organization(APO), Tokyo. Current research interests include organizational restructuring & design, diversity management and management of occupational health & safety.

Anita Sarkar

In her thesis she has looked into factors related to empowerment of women employees in a stereotypical job. Prior to her doctoral study she worked in industry for more than 9 years. She has presented papers in national and international conferences, and has published articles. Her research interests include empowerment, training and development, gender diversity, and international human resource management. She also qualified in the UGC NET-JRF.

Arundhati Sarkar Bose

Prof. Arundhati Sarkar Bose has completed her M.A. and M. Phil. from the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, JNU, New Delhi. She has completed writing her Ph. D. thesis and is soon expected to receive a doctorate from JNU New Delhi.
Before joining XLRI, she taught at Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi and Miranda House, New Delhi. She has also taught in an external program of the London School of Economics and worked as a research fellow at IIFT.
Her area of research is International Trade and Finance, Labour Economics and Economics of Education. She published her works in both print and electronic refereed journals.

Prior to joining XLRI, he had taught at Karunya Deemed University, Coimbatore and IMT-Ghaziabad. Areas of interest include Business Research Methods, Marketing Research, Data Analysis for Marketing Decisions and Service Loyalty Measurements. He has conducted Development Programmes on the Application of Statistical Tools through SPSS and has published several articles in the refereed journals.

After about 36 years of corporate experience in public, private sectors and multinational (Hindustan Copper, Zuari Industries, Goa and BOC) D. P. Sinha opted for academia and joined XLRI in August 2006 in PM & IR Area. Prior to joining XLRI he was Corporate Vice President (HR) in Zuari Industries Ltd at Goa. He is a visiting professor at IIM, Kozhikode and SIBM, Pune. He has keen interest in Management Education and training. He has designed and conducted a number of management excellence programmes. His areas of interest are Strategic HR, Performance Measurement & Management, Balanced Scorecard, Reward and Compensation Management and Win-win Negotiations. He has attended a number of national and international programmes and conferences.

Professor Broca joined XLRI in June 2006. At the onset of his career, he served at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. On returning to India, he had a brief stint with Nestle India Ltd. Between 1991 to 2006, Professor Broca has held academic positions at the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Patiala, BITS Pilani, IIT Roorkee and IIM Kozhikode. His research interests currently focus on Statistics Education – classroom capsules/notes that contain new ideas to enrich teaching of traditional statistical concepts.

Debasis Pradhan

Debasis Pradhan is an Assistant Professor at XLRI where he teaches Advertising and Sales promotion, Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Management. His doctoral thesis was on influence of marketing environment variables on promotion mix decisions of the firms in the rural industries. Prior to joining IRMA for his doctoral degree, he has worked for more than two years as a consultant in power sector. Papers authored by him have been published as well as accepted for publication in national and international journals of repute. Apart from XLRI, he also teaches at XIM, Bhubaneswar as a visiting faculty. He has presented papers authored by him at international conferences like INFORMS Marketing Science Conference, Singapore and Academy of Management (AOM), Philadelphia. His research interests include Effectiveness of Advertising, Consumer Decision Heuristics, Rural Marketing, and Bottom of Pyramid (BOP) Markets.

He has joined XLRI in January, 2010. Prior to joining XLRI, he has taught at IMT, Nagpur. His doctoral work was on the effects of Price and Production Postponement decisions, and Product Flexibility on Capacity Planning under uncertainty. His areas of interest include Strategic Capacity Planning, Stochastic Programming, Manufacturing Flexibility, Revenue Management and World Class Manufacturing Strategies. He is a certified ISO 9000:2000 Lead Auditor. Prior to joining the Fellow Programme at IIMC, he has worked in a leading Petrochemical Complex for more than 4 years.

Fr Abraham is the Director of XLRI and Professor of Organizational Behaviour. Earlier he was the Director of XIMB. He also worked as Joint Director of the Academy of HRD, and the President of the Association of Indian Management Schools. He has professional affiliation to a number of organisations at the national and international level. He is on the board of many management institutes and associations including XIM (Bhubaneswar), AIB-UG (AICTE), XIME, MCIM (Bangalore), NIT (Rourkela) , AIMS, National HRD Network, XAMI and IAJBS. His areas of interests include Leadership, Institution Building, Organisational Climate, Culture and Change.

Dr. E. M. Rao had been in industry as a Personnel and Industrial Relations Manager for more than 20 years and was associated with several reputed organizations including Warner - Hindustan, VST and IDL Industries Ltd., Hyderabad and later as an Advocate and Management Consultant. Dr. Rao was with the ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad as a Professor in Management for two years before joining XLRI in the year 1997. Dr. Rao conducted in-company training programmes in various organizations like Shriram Honda, Raymond Synthetics, IOC, HPCL, OIL, Tata Cummins, BEL, Ranbaxy, ITC, Goa Shipyard and Eicher. He has published more than 20 papers on personnel/human resource management, industrial relations and labour law. A life member of NIPM, IIRA, NHRD Network and NLLA. His areas of specialization include Industrial Relations, Labour Law, Disciplinary Action, Negotiation Skills, Performance Management, Potential Appraisal, Career Planning & Development and Managerial Skills/Effectiveness.
Dr Rao has edited the 6th edition (2004) of the famous "Law of Industrial Disputes", authored by Mr O P Malhotra. In addition, Dr Rao has authored the book titled "Industrial Jurisprudence" (2004).

His areas of interest include organization development (OD), spirituality at work, cross-cultural issues in OB, personal effectiveness, and transformational / charismatic leadership. Received Best Research Paper Award from AIMS and Gold Medal for Best Doctoral Thesis. Dr. Srinivas presented his research at several international conferences.

Prof Pradhan has over 22 years’ experience in teaching, research and consulting in the field of finance and economics. He has a Ph D from the University of Pune(India) and a Fullbright Post Doctoral Research Fellow with the Columbia University Business School(New York). He has been Professor of Finance and Economics at XLRI since 1995, where he also served as the member Board of Governors. He served as the Regional Debt Advisor for the Pacific Countries for the Commonwealth Secretariat London, and also concurrently the Resident Advisor with the Ministry of Finance, Government of Fiji Islands, during 2005-07. He has served as an expert for the United Nations-Economic and Social Commission for the Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok. Has conducted extensive capacity building workshops on debt management for multilateral organizations such the United Nations, World Bank, ADB, Crown Agents, and the Commonwealth, with participations from over 50 developing countries. Some of his key research areas include global capital markets, government debt management, real exchange rate, asset pricing, market risk management and development finance.

Joined XLRI in June, 2004. Has an eclectic profile developed over 30 years first as an academician-cum-administrator at XLRI and subsequently as a senior executive at Tata Steel. His earlier stint at the Institute, spanning 10 years, culminated as Dean for a 4-year term. He taught a variety of courses in the Organizational Behaviour, Economics and General Management areas in the postgraduate and executive development programmes. He also conducted a large number of in-company programmes for leading companies. At Tata Steel, he played a pivotal role in designing many of the HR systems and practices for which the company is renowned. He also spearheaded its learning centres for 20 years. He has now returned to XLRI as the “Tata Steel Chair Professor of Organizational Development.

His last assignment was as Dean of School of Management under KIIT Deemed University, Bhubaneswar.
He completed his Ph.D. study from Utkal University in the area of Marketing with specific focus on Retail Price Perceptions. His areas of interests are Consumer Behavior, Numerical Cognition and Retail. He has 5 publications to date and is currently working on a book on Pricing Management.

Post Graduate and Fellow in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, is currently the Dean (Academics) and Professor (Marketing) at XLRI, Jamshedpur. He has been a Marketing faculty at XLRI, Jamshedpur, since 1994. He has also been a visiting faculty to the Indian Institutes of Management in Ahmedabad, Calcutta and Lucknow and the American University of Armenia. Prior to his stint at XLRI, Prof. Venugopal held managerial positions for 10 years in the marketing divisions of two agribusiness companies.
Professor Venugopal has authored the books on “Marketing Channel Management: A Customer Centric Approach” and “Input Management, The State of the Indian Farmer: A Millennium study”. He has presented papers at national and international conferences as well as published articles in leading national and international journals. He has also been involved as a consultant with several projects for both the profit and non-profit sectors.

He also got the prestigious Citibank Research Excellence Award in IIM Bangalore. He has won the Best Research Paper Award from AIMS in 1999.

Prabal K Sen

Prabal K Sen served the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) as Bank of Baroda Chair Professor from November 2001 to March 2007 before joining XLRI as Professor in March 2007. He had earlier taught at the Post Graduate Department of Economics in Burdwan University and served a public sector bank for over two decades, where he had occupied senior positions in areas related to economic research, general management and rural credit policy planning and operations. He has carried out several studies on rural credit and development, published a number of papers on related subjects and offered consultancy services, among others, to the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and the SIDBI Foundation for Micro Credit.
At IRMA Prof. Sen taught macroeconomics and rural finance-related courses and also discharged administrative responsibilities as (i) the Member-Secretary and Coordinator, Corpus Management Committee, (ii) Trustee, IRM Employees’ Provident Fund, (iii) Placement Coordinator and (iv) Member, PRM (Post-graduate Programme in Rural Management) Committee for varying periods
He has guided and evaluated a number of PhD theses relating to different Universities, conducted sessions at workshops and training programmes organized at regional, national and international levels, and coordinated several Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for senior functionaries of finance and development-related organizations including one held in collaboration with the Consultative Group to Assist the Poorest (C-GAP), Washington.

After graduating as civil engineer, he worked in Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation, a public sector enterprise under Ministry of Health, for nearly five years in different projects located in different parts of the country.
In IIM-A, he was awarded the IIMA FPM Alumni Chaudhary Padmanabhan Pant Scholastic Award for performance in first year of the fellow programme and the Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) Thesis Proposal Award for the year 2003- 2004.
Since joining XLRI he has been teaching and researching the subject of performance management. Apart from conducting training programmes for managers, he has been involved in audit, development and implementation of performance management systems in public sector organizations. His areas of interest also include decision making and qualitative research methods.

He was a Fulbright Environment Leadership Fellow at Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA. His work explores the environmental governance, policy, development, and environment interface. Raghu Ram has a master’s degree in limnology and PhD in biodiversity impact assessment. He teaches environment and natural resource management. He is co-editor of Reconciling Environment and Economics (IGIDR, Mumbai 2003) and editor of Uttar Pradesh Environment Monitor-2003 (World Bank, New Delhi 2004). He was the Member Secretary and Project Coordinator of Environmental Economics Research Committee that sponsored 61 field research projects aimed to build environmental economics research capacity in India (2000-2003). He was National Project Coordinator of Protected Area Network Cell at the Wildlife Institute of India (1994-1995). His publications cover habitat evaluation models, biodiversity impact assessment, water and air quality governance and environmental policy. He is now a consultant to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India to evaluate community forestry institutions.

Vishwa Ballabh is a Professor in Economics area. Prior to joining XLRI, he was Reserve Bank of India Chair Professor at the Institute of Rural management Anand. Prof Ballabh graduated in Agriculture from Pant Nagar and holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. He has been a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and was a Visiting Scholar at the Indiana University, USA and a Visiting Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute, Philippines. He has over twenty years of teaching and research experience. His major area of research interest has been institutions and natural resource management. He is a member of several national and international professional societies in agricultural, natural resource economics and development fields. He was Vice President of Indian Society of Agricultural Economics1996-97. He has published widely and co-edited two books titled, Farm Forestry in South Asia, Co-operative Management of Natural Resources. He is presently editing books on Droughts and Integrated Water Resource Management in South Asia – Issues, Alternatives and Futures (with Jasween Jairath), Governance of Water: Institutional Alternatives And Political Economy and Institutional alternatives and Governance of agriculture. He has also co-authored a monograph titled Organising for Rural Development. Widely travelled, Prof Ballabh has participated in several national and international conferences and has provided consultancy to several national and international development organizations such as the Ford Foundation, Royal Netherlands Embassy, UNICEF and International Water Management Institute.
