Programme Overview

The Executive-Fellow Program will have three broad phases, namely;

  • Course work for studying the prescribed courses as listed in the curriculum design. This would be fulfilled through 5 campus visits of 20 days' duration each, spread over a period of 24 months.

  • Comprehensive examination after the successful completion of course work.

  • Thesis period after the successful completion of comprehensive examination.

The student is conferred the title "Fellow in Management" of XLRI on successful completion of all the requirements of the thesis.

Duration of the Program

The total duration of the program will ordinarily be four years and a maximum of eight years. Students failing to complete the requirements within this time period will be deemed to have withdrawn from the Program.

Besides the campus visits of 20 days' duration each that are needed to finish the course work, at least 3 additional campus visits will normally be needed to finish comprehensive examination, defend the thesis proposal, and defend the final thesis.

A student has to meet all the requirements of the Program according to prescribed standards including the permissible maximum duration of the Program as above and no exemption will be granted for any reason whatsoever.

Curriculumn Design

All the Executive-FPM students will be required to complete a maximum of 20 courses equivalent to 50 credits. Apart from courses offered by each area, courses on Statistics and Research Methods are compulsory.

Elective/Doctoral Courses

A student is required to do 4 doctoral courses. Of these four, at least 2 needs to be from the student's area of specialization and the remaining courses may be from the list of electives in other areas offered specially to the Executive-FPM Students.

Seminar Courses

Executive-FPM students are required to undertake two Seminar courses in consultation with Faculty Advisory Committee in the field of research interest of the student.

Qualifying Examinations

After successful completion of the course requirements, the Executive-FPM student is required to take the comprehensive examination to qualify for the thesis registration.
