Introduction and Objective :

Much of the success of an organization hinges on healthy industrial relations. An understanding of the numerous problems relating to employees and their organization assumes great importance to a manager as an aid to managerial effectiveness. However industrial relations has usually been looked at in isolation.

Strategic Industrial Relations management is an attempt to look at the industrial relations function from a strategic perspective - an approach towards integrating the management of industrial relations with business phases and exigencies at the enterprise level. The focus of this programme is to view the process in the context of the socio-economic formations within which business and industrial relations interact.

The subject derives an added relevance in the light of the current trends on the industrial relations scene in the country. The programme provides an in-depth analysis and discussion of various critical issues in the field of industrial relations and associated laws and aims at enhancing the capability of managers in establishing harmonious work place relationship so as to achieve organizational effectiveness.

Methodology :

The programme pedagogy consists of a mix of lectures, case analysis, group discussions and experiential learning exercises aimed at stimulating an interesting and participative learning experience. Theoretical input will be supplemented by practical insights from Industry.
