SAPPHIRE

Providing a strong thrust to the domain of human resources knowledge at XLRI is SAPPHIRE, the Students’ Association for the Promotion of Personnel Management, Human Resources and Industrial Relations at XLRI.

Founded in 1989, the student body aims to integrate the experiences of practitioners with the knowledge of academicians in the area of human resource development by organizing a consortium of events every year, that serve as platforms for debating and discussi ng state of the art HR practices. SAPPHIRE’s mission is to enable the development of world class, well rounded HR Professionals who are capable of delivering and creating value in the emerging business environment and make meaningful contributions to the field of Human Resources.

Central to this mission is the unshaken belief that continuous interaction with industry is needed to give a cohesive, practical business perspective. Hence, the student body organizes acclaimed events like National level inter college quizzing league, National H R Colosseum and the flagship National HR Conference along with a plethora of opportunities of live projects and workshops conducted throughout the year.

OUR EVENTS:

Battle H-Royale:

The HR quizzing league which is presented on a national level, attracts participation from over 400 4-member teams from over 30 B-schools in the initial rounds, with more coming in as the stages progress. With attractive cash prizes up for grabs, there is an added incentive for its popularity ap art from the innovative format for the quiz. The final round for2018-19 was a case study to be presented to an esteemed panel, thus offering both exposure and a platform for interaction with industry leaders.

National HR Colosseum:

Started in 2015-16, this inter college event witnesses participation from the campus winners of 5 colleges who battle across dif ferent HR based events Domestic Enquiry, Employee Value Proposition, Bridge the Gap and Factilicious. The National HR Colosseum 2017 offered Pre Placement Interview Offe rs to 6 people for successfully developing the Employee Value Proposition for a manufacturing firm.

The events in collaboration, provide an insight into the relation between HR, IR and psychology while also giving a chance to the students to apply their Training & Development skills to the existing staff at XLRI to suggest improvements to the current modules. This helps students gain apers pective on the XL community and while also being an active participant in its growth.

National HR Conference @ XLRI:

As a flagship event, the HR Conference at XLRI is an iconic platform for stalwarts from various industries, academicians, legal practitioners, trade union leaders to discuss the current trends and and challenges on the HR landscape and also the future role of the domain for running successful busin ess es. The conference witnesses insightful panel discussions, academic research paper presentations, leadership talks by experts, live project opportunities for the stu den ts and various avenues for industry interaction.

The 8th edition held on 19-20th January, 2019 was themed "Building an Agile future: Curating the new business landscape" saw enthusiastic participation from across the country. The keynote address delivered by Mr. Aquil Busrai captured the agile market sentiment and the dynamically changing role of HR in it beautifully.
