Samarthya is the youth wing of the Centre for Education Management, Leadership and Research (CEMLR) and operates under the guidance of Father Francis Peter S.J. It was formed with the sole aim of helping the school students of Jamshedpur, their parents and their teachers deal with their emotions and help students realiz e t heir full potential. Developing a rapport with the students, acting as their guides and eventually helping them cope with various situations forms the bedrock of its very existence for the seventh year in a row.

Our Events

Pragyaan Sessions

The model of Samarthya is to deliver sessions to the children of staff members of XLRI. The aim is to help students with academic learning, personality development and building a rapport with the students. Samarthya in the last year has consistently conducted weekly sessions on every Saturday since its initiation and seen a marked improvement in the learning level of the students. In addition to the regular teaching sessions, festivals and days of National importance are also celebrated with the kids.

Career Counselling Workshop - Disha

Samarthya conducted the 4th edition of their hugely successful career counselling workshop Disha on November 5, 2018. Over 65 students from XLRI gave guidance on 40 different streams for the students of classes 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th based on the career choices that students received after giving a psychometric test. Over 600 students, parents and teachers attended the event to understand the varied possibilities available in terms of career choices.

Back to the Roots Quiz

In association with the annual fest of XLRI, Ensemble Valhalla 2018, Samarthya hosted a school quiz for students from 9th 12th standards Back to The Roots Quiz. The quiz was designed on the theme of “India and Indian Culture”. The quiz is intended to increase the students’ awareness and be an interesting as well as fun lea rni ng ground for them, something different from the way a student is expected to learn in school.

Annual Conference - Reflections

Samarthya hosted Reflections 19 the 7th edition of their Annual Conference on 15 September, 2019 The theme of the conference this year was ""Emotional Intelligence"" with special emphasis on Phubbing, Multi tasking and Empathy The event is intended to furnish an open medium of communication between students, teachers and parents and how to provide a conducive environment for students to grow Reflections also aims to find solutions for the problems and how to mitigate effect from the parties involved.


In association with Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy NGO, Samarthya has conducted civic learning modules to the students of various schools in Jamshedpur. The program works towards improving the quality of life in urban India by sparking the fire of active citizenship, participation, in the students. It a lso facilitates them to imbibe the spirit of collaborative teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, multidisciplinary thinking, and develop leadership potential. Samarthya strives to continue this journey by constan tly imbibing the young minds with these facets of active and responsible citizenry, thereby making an active and lasting impact.

English Fair:

“Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom"

English fair targets a school where the primary language of communication is not English. The purpose of the event is to increase awareness and instill fluency, and induce an appreciation for the beauty of the English language. The event targets at creating an amazing learning experience for the students through various planned activities. It aims at not only capturing the interests of the students but also help them kick start their journey of learning the language and leaving a lasting impact.

Science Fair:

Scientists learn about their subject by observing, describing, and experimenting Following the same philosophy, Science Fair aims to help underprivileged students of Jamshedpur in learning about Science in a fun and exciting way by the medium of experiments At the science fair, students are taught different scientific principles by involving students in various experiments to help them better understand the world around them and realize the importance of science.
