Alumni Committee (ALCOM)



The Alumni Committee organizes and is involved in a plethora of activities that have been bringing the Alumni of XLRI closer to the institute while engaging them with the students, and uses the Alumni network in strengthening brand XLRI. Some of the activities that were organized and undertaken by Alcomm in the last year include:

  • Summer Meets 2017: Alcomm organized the Summer Meets 2017 across 7 chapters in India namely Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. A large number of Alumni including stalwarts from different industries participated in the meets, thus making them a huge success
  • Distinguished Alumnus Awards 2016: The Distinguished Alumnus Awards function was designed and organized by the Alumni Committee. The event was attended by over 200 alums from across the world and 8 distinguished Alumni were recognized for their contribution in industry & academics.
  • Homecoming 2016: Alcomm organized the Homecoming 2016 with the sole objective of bringing the Alumni back to XLRI and give them a nostalgic experience of their life at their alma mater. XLRI hosted a special lunch ‘Barakhana’ that became the perfect platform for informal interaction between the Alumni and the students. Alcomm also organized sports and other engagement activities to make the Alums feel at home.  A novel addition to this year’s event was an interactive fun-filled breakfast “Jalpaan” organized by the GMP students.
  • Pole Vault: Alcomm organized an interaction session,’ Pole vault’, which saw an unprecedented response from the students. During the sessions, the alums having excelled in off-beat careers shared their wisdom and intellectual takeaways while answering numerous queries from the eager audience
  • Silver Jubilee, 45 year, 40 years and 10 year Reunions 2016: The annual Silver Jubilee Reunion (for the Class of '91), 45 year Reunion (for the Class of '71), 40 year Reunion (for the Class of '76), 10 year Reunion (for the Class of '06) were attended by 40+ alumni of the respective batches. The alums were taken on a tour of their old classrooms by student committee members. The Alumni-Student interaction, in an informal setup, was also a huge success.
  • Newsletters: Apart from organizing the aforementioned events, the Alumni Committee also creates quarterly newletters - X-Communique and Glimpse - to keep the Alumni connected to the campus and apprise them of the latest happenings at XLRI.
