CII Young Indians

Young Indians (Yi) is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-government, not-for-profit, industry led and industry-managed organization playing a proactive role in India's development process. Yi was formed in the year 2002 with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation. Yi has around 1500 direct members in 32 chapters, and engages around 8300 students through student nets.

Yi membership includes young progressive Indians between the age group of 25 & 40 and comprises entrepreneurs, professionals and achievers from different walks of life. "To become the Voice of Young Indians Globally" being the vision of Yi, it provides a platform for young Indians to participate in and contribute by becoming an integral part of the Indian growth story. Yi's work can be divided primarily into three groups; "Youth Leadership", "Youth Social Entrepreneurship” and “International Engagements”.

XLRI Jamshedpur in collaboration with Yi (Young Indians), established the first Yi Net at XLRI Jamshedpur through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in April 2008. The Yi Net at XLRI is an initiative to empower the students to work towards the development of education, employability, environment, youth affairs and health sectors. It also facilitates interaction of students with young achievers.

Professor Sunil Kumar Sarangi is the faculty in charge of Yi net on campus and Mr. Ashish Kumar Mishra is the secretary. With a membership of around 23 students, it is one of the biggest official committees on campus.
