Mentoring and Coaching

Coaching and mentoring are tools used by organizations in the development of human Capital. While the concept of mentoring originated few thousands of years ago, coaching is a relatively newer concept. While mentoring focuses on the overall development of a person, coaching focuses on task related performance enhancements. With the advancement in the body knowledge, need for research has increased. This article discusses the concepts of mentoring and coaching, their similarities, differences and the likely impact in the development of human capital.
