Brief Profile
Hi, I’m Prasenjit—an economist who studies climate change, resource use, development challenges, and why humans insist on doing the exact opposite of what theory predicts. I’m an Associate Professor at XLRI–Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, previously on the faculty at the University of Manchester, and earned my PhD in Wyoming, where I did experiments on real people and occasionally dodged actual wildlife.
I blend theory, behavioural economics, and experiments because spreadsheets alone can’t capture the chaos of human decision-making. The goal here is to turn behavioural insights into smarter climate and development policy. My work shows up in journals with serious names—the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Energy Economics, the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and the Oxford Economic Papers—but I promise I’m more fun in person.
Always open to research collaborations, PhD supervision, visiting opportunities, and industry or policy engagements.
