Interest Areas: Healthcare, Sustainability, Social Entrepreneurship
Andrea M. Prado is an Associate Professor of Management and Organizations at INCAE
Business School. She holds the Strachan Chair for Philanthropy and Social Investment and
serves as the Director of the CAHI Jeffe Fellowship, an initiative that seeks to improve the
quality, accessibility, and affordability of healthcare services in Latin America by accelerating
initiatives that promote innovations on products, services, and management processes.
Prado’s research explores how businesses can contribute to sustainable development in the
countries where they operate, particularly through their environmental, social, and governance
(ESG) strategies and the inclusion of low-income populations in their value chains, either are
consumers or suppliers. She has studied industry self-regulation, social entrepreneurship, and
global health as mechanisms to achieve this goal. The empirical context of most of her scholarly
work is Latin America, even though findings are relevant to other low-and-middle income
countries.
She received a PhD in Management and Organizations from Stern School of Business, New
York University; a MSc. in International Economics from the University of Essex, UK; and a BSc.
in Economics from the Universidad de Costa Rica. She received a Fulbright scholarship for her
PhD studies and a Chevening scholarship for her Master studies.
